FLORENCE, Ala. - The Department of Chemistry and Industrial Hygiene at the 亚色视频, in conjunction with the Wilson Dam section of the American Chemical Society, has sponsored an illustrated poem contest for Shoals community students in grades K-12 to celebrate Earth Day. Earth Day takes place on April 22 each year and this year's contest theme was "Rethinking Recycling - It's Easy to be Green!" All of this year's winners came from Deshler High School where Kathy Moon serves as the students' chemistry teacher. First place went to Taylor Killen, a sophomore. Second place was awarded to Cecil Kennedy, a sophomore, and third place was presented to Austin Kelley, also a sophomore at DHS. Killen's poem was sent on to compete in the national contest conducted by the American Chemical Society.
